Final Summer Harvest

Well I am not sure that I can call this a harvest, but the results are from my summer garden.

We used some of our Fish Peppers to make a fermented hot sauce. They have finally finished fermenting, so it was time to strain the sauce out.

We found a rather peculiar way to strain the sauce:
But it worked and we now have a bottle of homemade hot sauce. It's good too. Slightly hotter than tabasco sauce.
This weekend was also our 11th anniversary. We spent the day visiting local wineries. We aren't huge drinkers but we do enjoy a glass of wine here and there. We learned last year that when you find a wine that you like....buy it! Wine comes in a huge variety of tastes and strengths. These are the locally grown wines that we liked the most.
I finally weighed my potatoes. The white potatoes came in at a dismal 7 lbs, but the sweet potatoes weighed in at 42 lbs. That is probably more than enough for us.

I hope to blog some more this week. Our internet has been in and out for the last couple of weeks so I haven't been able to blog like I've wanted. Supposedly they are going to point us to a different tower, so we'll see.

    1. Thanks! Tasting all of the different wines was enlightening. Its amazing how many different tastes they can get just by how they process/ferment the grapes, what they store them in while fermenting, and what they add to it. Some come out really harsh and some really sweet.

    1. I used these directions http://kgi.org/recipes/make-your-own-hot-sauce (added clickable link to my post), but google fermented hot sauce and you'll get all kinds of options. I want to try the clear pepper sauce next.
